Obituary for Richard A. Snellinger

On May 29, 2017 Richard A. Snellinger, 94, of New Freedom, passed away peacefully. Beloved husband of the late Marion C. Wagner; devoted father of Fran and husband, Warren, Rick and wife, Cathy; stepfather of Marion, Earl and the late Raymond Ward; cherished grandfather to Maria, Katie, Julie and John; great-grandfather to Lincoln, Lauren, Max, Harper and Frankie; plus numerous step grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Survived by a brother, Paul; and sister, Eileen. Predeceased by brother Earnest.

Richard, a Navy veteran was retired since 1986 from the Baltimore News American and the past secretary of the Typographical Printers Union. He was a fourth degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus. Of special meaning in his retired life, beyond his immediate family were the many radio club friends he made as an amateur radio operator.

Viewing will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 2 at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom. Funeral Liturgy will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 3 at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 315 N. Constitution Ave., New Freedom. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Richard's name may be made to Saint John the Baptist Church, at the address above OR SpiriTrust Lutheran Foundation, 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, York, PA 17404.
