J.C. Cross, 81, died August 1, 2016, at home. He was the loving husband of Theda (Hammons) Cross and they celebrated 59 years of marriage in January 2016.

A viewing will be held from 12 noon until 2 pm Friday, August 5, 2016, at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown, with a funeral service beginning at 2 pm with Pastor Michael J. Stiffler officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul U.M. Cemetery, Pylesville, MD.

Born November 25, 1934, in Coldwater, TN, J.C. was the son of the late Erk and Mary (Baird) Cross. He retired from Red Star Freight Lines and was a member of Daybreak Christian Assembly of Towson, MD, and Teamsters Local 557. An avid deer hunter, J.C. enjoyed fishing, motorcycling, and four-wheeling

Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Barbara F. Cook, wife of Marvin of Delta; three grandchildren, Christopher, Kelsey, and Jesse Cook; four siblings, Everette Cross of TN, and Betty Smith, wife of Bobby of TN, and Judy Clem of AL, Hilda Hall of KY, and a brother-in-law, Bobby Patterson of TN.
